Super Chess Classic Romania 2026 brings 10 of the world's best chess players to Bucharest for a classical round-robin tournament with $475,000 in total prizes. It is the first classical stage of the Grand Chess Tour 2026 — the most prestigious international chess circuit, with a total prize fund of $2,000,000.

Garry Kasparov — the greatest chess player of all time and 13th World Champion — is the founder of the Grand Chess Tour. Kasparov will be in Bucharest from 14 May, the first day of play, attending the early rounds of the tournament.

Super Chess Classic Romania 2026 se desfășoară în Palatul Vechi al Băncii Naționale a României, situat în inima Orașului Vechi. Marele arhitect Ion Mincu l-a considerat „cea mai frumoasă clădire din București.” Construit între 1884 și 1890 sub coordonarea arhitecților francezi Cassien Bernard și Albert Galleron.

Super Chess Classic Romania 2026 takes place in the Old Palace of the National Bank of Romania, located in the heart of the Old City. The great architect Ion Mincu considered it "the most beautiful building in Bucharest." Built between 1884 and 1890 under the coordination of French architects Cassien Bernard and Albert Galleron. The most impressive space is the Marble Hall — the former Tellers' Hall.
